The issue was that the NUI front-end used absolute paths and a hardcoded URL (https://jg-mechanic/...). As a result, all fetch calls failed with TypeError: Failed to fetch. The fix was to switch to relative paths and use GetParentResourceName() to dynamically generate the NUI URL.
